Music

From Reggae's, Misty In Roots and Bob Marley to Delius and Grieg, Si loved his music.
Over the years his musical repertoire grew and became more diverse. He never lost the knack for hitting on a good tune.
As a teenager, Si listened to Neil Young,Van Morrison,Santana and Peter Tosh and as his tastes grew, then came Carleen Anderson,Burning Spear,Trance, Ambiance and Club music to name but a few.
Latterly, Si developed a love for hardcore Techno and music production, organising free parties all over the south of England. The Tribe of Locust was set up, performing a live six hour set at the Locust Rig, in the Traveller's field's at Glastonbury in the summer of 2000.
Some of these parties involved remote locations and on a couple of occasions, Si and happy munters would end up at Tyneham ranges where he would incur the interest of the MOD range officers! Never one to be thwarted in his mission, Si would mention his Royal Marine background and charm them into letting him stay if he left the site spotless!
A most memorable night was spent at the BIC in Bournemouth in the 90's of all places. There was a reggae night being held in one of the smaller theatres, hosting Dennis Brown and Gregory Issacs. The music and rhythm was infectious as we danced in to the night.
During the 90's, Si worked for a brief spell, part time at the Zoo and Cage nightclubs as Bar Manager. This allowed him to make contacts with DJ's and to expand his interest in music production more recently.

It was through being Si's friend that i got introduced to the joys of outdoor free parties, particularly in the New Forest. We were together when we met the Locusts for the first time (around '97/'98) in the Forest, and a strong bond was immediately formed with them that went beyond partying and into core beliefs and life values. We all became firm friends and enjoyed switching people onto the fact that you could party outdoors for free with a group of like minded people, who had great love for this beautiful planet we live and breathe on. It didn't take long for Si to throw himself (with his usual passion and enthusiasm!) into setting up the Tribe of Locust website, as he realised the internet was a great way for connecting people with the tribe, and their ideas and ethos. Obviously the party site details had to be transmitted as secretly as possible, due to the fact the forest rangers and authories in general din't share our enthusiasm for pounding techno in the woods! Following Si's deparure from this plane to the next, we held a small wake for close friends at our favourite site at the oak grove in boldrewood. It was 2 days before Si's 38th birthday, and Gaia blessed us with a clear sky and a beautiful full moon. I could hear Si's gentle laughter whispering through the trees as we danced and I let off some fireworks, and he reminded me that he will always be with us. Blessed be Si.
