Mystical Simon

Simon loved Nature and the ancient forests and trees. He grew up with a great lover of the forest and woodlands, his maternal grandfather, Dick Miller. Si's early years were spent traversing the New Forest on long walks with the family and this developed his love of the English countryside coupled with an insatiable appetite to look beyond it's beauty and discover its ancient and mystical heritage.
Cerne Abbas was one of his favourite spiritual places alongside Avebury, Stonehenge and Glastonbury Tor.
Cerne Abbas became Si's final resting place and so it should have a special meaning for all of us who loved him so much as it surely did for dear Simon.

" One thing is sure. Profound mystery is there. Beyond the reach of wonder and not dependant on all our theories of origin and meaning. Middleton Murray speaks of the melody of the water of the well and it's symbolism as the voice of acceptance and reconciliation ... also the unheard voice of the primeval things of the hills."

Mary Jones: Cerne Abbas ( 1952)

Glastonbury Tor
Whoever is sitting with friends is in the midst of a flower garden, though he may be in the fire. Whoever sits with an enemy is in the fire, even though he is in the midst of a garden. -Rumi, "Mathnawi" [IV, 1976-1978]
