This blog is intended to be a living memorial for my dear son and to invite all friends and colleagues to share in a celebration of his life.

Simon loved all his friends and would want to know all their news so any updates, quotes, poems, one liners or whatever seems right for you.............could be just to log in and reflect for a moment in time.
A very big thank you to all who made donations to Surfers Against Sewage, in Simon's memory.

It was his preferred charity and SAS would like to reassure us that all monies raised will go straight into their campaign for effluent and toxic free waters for all, having been paid into the Hard Core Fund, which funds all SAS demos and campaign literature.
It is expected that our donations will be divided into helping SAS continue to lobby Northumbrian Water, concerning their plans to switch off UV disinfection in the North East, and an action, SAS have planned in Guernsey, to lobby the States (their government) on implementing a full sewage treatment policy.
SAS are almost one year on from where they finished off their vigil in Guernsey and are planning their next visit. The government is under pressure to provide improved treatment - and SAS think they will get secondary but with a bit of a nudge, they might get full treatment in!
A tribute to Si has now been included in the SAS February 2007 edition of "Pipeline" magazine.

Hi Simon,
We all survived our first Christmas, December 2006, without you and it was difficult. Remembering our last one together at Nan and Grandad's, when you came over for tea with Rowan.
Well this time we had Rowan for the day at Nan's and all had a lovely lunch together. Nan played the piano and Rowan sang Jingle Bells - he's going to be a good singer!
Nikki,my work colleague and friend had been to New York prior to Xmas and managed to get Rowan some nifty clothes for Xmas and they fitted him with room to spare.I bought him another remote control crane- do you remember the last one? Well Rowan wanted another as it broke, infact he has that photo of you and him playing with the other one , pinned to his Memory Box.
Nan had given him some books and clothes and Aunty Wena got him a "Write your own Book" present. Nan also got pirate ship and fort which took me hours to put together and we still have many hours left to complete both!
Rowan liked his photo of you two in New Zealand, the one with him on your lap in that little mouse outfit.

Anyway we had a lovely day together. Rowan kept talking about you and how he has a special energy whereby he can see you. I, unfortunately, cannot see you, according to Rowan. He wanted to know what you were like when you were small and I showed him your first school , St Joseph's - enroute to Nan's.
You must have achieved super duper powers as Rowan assured me and Sarah that you were flying home with us later that night as we drove to my place! You also seemed to be quite busy with cooking some pasta and washing the kitchen floor!
He stayed the night with us and the next day we all went to Swanage( surprise, surprise, I hear you say) on the Nordon steam train. Thank goodness the railway shop was closed when we arrived at Swanage! Rowan missed you so much on the return journey but we kept him amused with tales of the tricks you used to play on Sarah when you were both little. For some reason, Rowan found this thoroughly entertaining!
Rowan likes to bring Passepartout into bed in the morning and gets him to talk about you. We've adopted a stock phrase now when ever he wants us to buy another present- "what did Dad say to you in his letter"?
Quick as a flash he replied" its' about what you give not receiving!! Hope it lasts Si!

We are now into January and Sarah has moved into her new flat in Westbourne. It's a really nice flat which she has kitted out so nicely. There's an extra room for Rowan to stop over. Not far from the beach too.
Paul did lots of the decorating and it looks very professional- great colours and style. She's also got a new car as the Polo gave up the ghost before Xmas. Your van is still here but someone has shown some interest in it so we will wait and see.

Well not a minute of my day goes past without thoughts of you my dearest son.Still expect you to come through the front door calling out "Hi Mum". I miss you so very much, we all do. I love you Simon with all my heart. xxx

Dearest Simon,
Sarah and I have just arrived back from Crete where candles shine bright from Moni Toplou to Neapoli Cathedral and again in the very special spiritual environs of Kremasta Convent.
Nana and Grandad joined us on a special journey to Cerne Abbas yesterday 29 September 2007 to celebrate your life and to remember that poignant day last year, the first anniversary of your death. xxx
